Bye-bye 3-2-1. Hello Nerd Out on Notion

why i acquired this newsletter (and what's changing).

Hey everyone,

You might remember James’s final email back in October. He mentioned he was looking for someone to give this newsletter a “second life.”

Well, I’m the guy who is going to be doing just that.

My name is Nick Horob. I’m a business nerd who recently exited a software company (Harvest Profit) to John Deere.

I didn't buy this newsletter to just keep the lights on. I bought it because I’ve spent the last decade obsessed with business models, margins, and systems. In my experience, Notion is the single most powerful tool for building a modern business operating system.

The Rebrand: Nerd Out on Notion

We are officially retiring the “3-2-1” name. Moving forward, this is Nerd Out on Notion.

What to expect starting next Tuesday:

Every issue will follow an Information → Interpretation → Action framework:

  • Curated Insight: One strong idea from a video, tweet, or article.

  • Interpreted Update: What changed in Notion and exactly how to use it this week.

  • Template of the Week: One template solving one clear pain point.

A Note for our French Subscribers

James built a great community here, including many of you in France. I plan to keep the existing language flows active for now as we transition. If you’ve been receiving the French version, expect that to continue while I get my bearings on the best way to serve both audiences.

I need your input

We are going to build templates based on real-world demand, not what I think "looks cool." To help me prioritize what to build first.

What is the #1 thing you are struggling to manage in Notion right now?

I’m excited to get to work.

– Nick

To new beginnings…

Templates For Notion will remain the same. We’ll keep everyone updated in the newsletter whenever there’s a new template or anything else happening in the space.
