Notion got a brain transplant

New model, faster pages, book meetings from chat

Hey,

Some actually useful Notion updates this week. Pages are loading 28% faster now too. Small improvement, but you feel it.

Meetings from chat, and a couple small upgrades.

Also found a quick way to make your pages look better.

Let’s get into it.

In Today's Email 👀

  • Book meetings from chat

  • Better Notion covers (worth it)

  • Notion AI is running on a new model

  • A few tools + ideas

3 Tips / Updates

1/ SCHEDULE MEETINGS FROM CHAT

Small but useful. Notion Agent can now read your calendar, see your teammates availability, and book meetings inline.

Connect Google Calendar or Outlook in Settings (Mail & Calendar tab is now there too, added Friday). Then tell the Agent something like "find me 30 minutes with Sara next week" and it'll show ranked time slots and book it.

Notion AI is becoming more like an executive assistant that actually knows your work. It already has your docs and projects. Now it has your calendar and inbox too.

2/ MAKE BETTER NOTION COVERS (FREE)

Someone on Reddit built a free Notion cover maker and it's genuinely useful.

Covers make a bigger difference to your workspace than you'd expect… but making them is usually more effort than it should be.

Most people end up either:
→ opening Canva (overkill)
→ or falling down a Pinterest rabbit hole

This is a much easier way.

The tool lets you:
→ pick a background (pulls from Unsplash)
→ add text + adjust colors
→ keep everything in a safe zone
→ download and drop straight into Notion

No account, no sign-up, nothing.

3/ NOTION AI IS RUNNING ON OPUS 4.7 NOW

Quietly shipped Wednesday. Notion AI swapped in Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.7.

On Notion's own benchmark: 14% improvement on multi-step workflows, 66% drop in tool-calling errors. They're calling it "the first model to pass our implicit-need tests", meaning the model figures out which tool to use without being told.

If you tried Notion AI six months ago and bounced because it kept calling the wrong tool, this is the version to come back to.

Poll/ Someone Built Doom Inside Notion

Someone on Reddit built a working Doom clone inside a single Notion formula. Enemies, movement, shooting, the whole thing. No plugins, no external tools.

Notion's formula engine is a lot more powerful than most people give it credit for.

Quick Links & Tools

Kimi K2.6 just landed in Notion: The first open-weight model that plays like a top-class agentic model. Cheaper inference, serious performance for difficult agentic work. Worth trying today. Take it for a drive →

NOTION AI ISN’T PERFECT: Someone used Notion AI to organise their workspace… and it deleted a few pages in the process. They recovered everything but still. Just a reminder to be careful with anything important. Also makes that backup tool idea we mentioned feel a lot more relevant. See discussion →

NEON DIVIDERS IN NOTION: You can upgrade your pages instantly by using custom image dividers instead of the default grey line. Just create a slim gradient image (e.g. 1000x10px), upload it with /image, and set it to full width. Small detail, but makes your workspace feel way more custom. See how →
