Notion without limits

build with embeds, faster workflows + agents trial ending

Hey,

Most people are still using Notion way below what it can actually do.

This week isn’t about a big release, it’s about a few simple tweaks that completely change how you use it. Things that make your workspace faster, cleaner, and honestly way more powerful.

Once you see them, you won’t go back.

Let’s get into it.

  • Notion embeds = unlimited features

  • Turn any page into a home screen app

  • Custom agents free trial ending soon

  • The Notion backup problem

3 Tips / Updates

1/ NOTION EMBEDS = UNLIMITED FEATURES

Most people still use Notion like a standard Google Doc. That is a massive mistake, and it is exactly why your workspace feels limited. You are not restricted to just the features the Notion team decides to build.

If something exists on the internet, you can embed it straight into your page. That means you can drop in things like:

  • Custom dashboards

  • Live client portfolios

  • Interactive calculators

  • Full blown software tools

Here is the actual secret.. start looking at Notion as an empty container. You can generate these widgets and host them yourself, or use dedicated tools like Embeddy. Just paste the link, type /embed, and you are done.

Because you control the widget outside of Notion, you completely bypass their native design limits and can customize the UI however you want.

There are really only three catches. Stacking too many embeds will tank your page speed, some premium tools cost money, and building them from scratch takes real effort. But the flexibility you get back is insane.

2/ TURN ANY PAGE INTO A NATIVE APP

Stop digging through your sidebar every time you need your daily to do list. Whether you use iOS or Android, you can turn any specific Notion page into a native app icon right on your home screen.

I have our own second brain template on my home screen so I can quickly access it and make edits.

For iPhone users, open the Apple Shortcuts app and hit the plus symbol. Search for the Notion app, add the "Open page" action, and select your target page. Tap the top dropdown arrow, hit "Add to Home Screen", and customize your icon.

For Android users, it is even faster. Just long press an empty space on your home screen and tap "Widgets". Find the Notion section, drag the "Page" widget onto your screen, and select the exact page you want to link.

Now your most important page is just one tap away, completely skipping the main Notion menu.

3/ CUSTOM AGENTS TRIAL ENDS MAY 3

You have under 4 weeks left to test this and it’s free.

Custom Agents have been on free trial since the Notion 3.4 launch. That window closes May 3. If you've been meaning to try them and haven't, now is your chance.

The fastest way to see if they're useful for your workflow: build one dashboard with an Agent. Describe what you want to track, let it set up the views, and see how long it would have taken you manually. That single test will tell you whether the paid tier makes sense.

If you're already using them and finding value, now's the time to think about whether you're on the right plan before the trial expires.

Poll/ The Notion Backup Problem

I saw a new project pop up recently. Someone is building a local backup tool that saves all your Notion pages, databases, and files straight to your own machine with zero monthly subscriptions.

Basically, if Notion disappeared tomorrow, you are completely covered.

People want this because Notion's native exports are notoriously messy and there is no real restore option.

But there are a few downsides:
→ works fine for small workspaces
→ gets really messy at scale (50GB+ data)
→ Notion’s API makes full backups hard

Would you pay ~$20 for a one-time Notion backup tool?

Someone built a super simple tool to solve one annoying gap in Notion: handwriting
You open the app, write with Apple Pencil, hit share → send to Notion → done.

Notion Plan Trick:
Free plan is more powerful than people think

→ unlimited pages + blocks (solo use)
→ avoid limits by adding people as guests instead of members
