Your ChatGPT plan now pays for Notion AI
+ one Notion database every AI can share, a dashboard fix that takes 5 minutes, and a recipe system worth stealing

Hey,
One person's AI memory setup hit 75.3K views on X this week. One Notion database, 4 Someone figured out how to give all of their AI tools one shared memory, and it's a single Notion database. No paid app, no new login. Meanwhile your ChatGPT plan can now pay for Notion AI (huge news!), and your dashboard is probably 2 screens too long.
Before we dive into this week’s email, I wanted to share with you a workshop that we're hosting this coming Thursday called "Build Your First AI App."
Jaryd Krishnan and I (Nick Horob) built a farm management software tool called Harvest Profit, which was acquired by John Deere for mid-eight figures in 2020, only 3 years after launching. At the time, we had six employees, and the employees owned 94% of the business.
We were lean, but at that time, software was hard to build. Things have changed so dramatically since then. It's mind-blowing.
Lean teams now have the ability to build incredibly valuable internal and customer-facing software tools. I was telling somebody that I think it's 100x easier to build software today than it was five years ago, and I think that's an understatement.
Notion is an amazing tool, but sometimes you need something that's dramatically more simple or something that's so niche that Notion will never build. For those use cases, building your own application using AI coding tools is amazing.
Jaryd and I are teaching a workshop on how you can build your own applications using AI coding tools and avoid a few of the landmines we've encountered along the way.
It's this Thursday at 9:00 Central Time (US) and we'll include a follow-up office hours where you can ask us any open-ended questions. The sign-up period ends tomorrow.

There's also a recipe database in here that's a bit over-engineered, and it's the best argument yet for hooking Claude up to Notion. Every chat you start from scratch this week is context you've already explained.
Let's get into it.

3 Tips / Updates
1/ ONE SCREEN FOR EVERY AI YOU'VE CONNECTED
Notion's app now has a better screen for managing everything connected to its MCP server, so every assistant you've hooked up lives in one place. MCP works on any plan, and a Muse connector shipped Sep 29 for tracking to-dos and moving projects along.

More connected AIs means more things that can read and write your workspace. People are asking for a setting to block MCP access to a page and its subpages, which doesn't exist yet. Most people have connected four tools and remember two.
2/ CHATGPT PLAN NOW PAYS FOR NOTION AI
If you have ChatGPT Plus or Pro, that subscription can now cover your AI usage in Notion. Connect your plan, pick a GPT model, go. A fix on Oct 1 also means your ChatGPT and Notion accounts no longer need the same email.

The catch is you still need a Notion Business or Enterprise plan. Plus and Edu users wanted access too, and nobody has answered whether these prompts count against standard Plus message caps.
Read it as Notion admitting that credits at $10 per 1,000 are a hard sell. If you already pay for ChatGPT and a Business seat, you may have been paying twice for the same tokens.
3/ YOUR DASHBOARD IS TOO LONG
One creator broke down 10 mistakes that kill a main dashboard. His first version was so long you had to scroll the whole page to reach one section. His rule: your daily page should be about 2 scrolls tall.
The 10: it's too long, it shows every database, the layout is misaligned, your daily stuff is buried, it uses more than 3 colors, it has decorative images, it has more than 1 or 2 widgets, it isn't full width, it has table views with no row limit, and it has no buttons. He goes further on tables. Table views don't belong on a main dashboard at all, even though Notion's own demos use them. That's his opinion, but the 100-row table is a real problem.
Fix yours in 5 minutes. Open your dashboard → ••• → turn on Full width → move your inbox, habits and today's tasks to the top → put every other database inside tabs (he runs 5, ordered by how often he opens them) → set each table view's load limit to 10 → add 1 button for quick capture. Your dashboard should feel like somewhere you want to live, not a landing page.

This is what Notion looks like when someone actually builds something for their own life.
A recipe database where every dish has its own page with directions, ingredients and a source link, and tags that turn "what do I make tonight" into a filter. Got spinach to use up? Filter by spinach and see what sounds good.

The cool part is how far people take it. Some run a separate ingredients database that tracks the pantry and builds the shopping list from the week's recipes, which cut one person's planning from an hour and a half to about ten minutes. Others keep it simple with tags and never touch a second database.
And the boring parts barely get done by hand anymore. With Claude connected, adding a recipe is sending it a link, and "pick five meals and make me a list" is one message. Notion works best when it ends up as the thing in the kitchen you actually use.

One Notion database. Every AI you use: Someone runs one shared memory for Grok Bot, Claude Code, Grok Build and Meta Muse out of a single Notion database. Each tool writes to it when something should be remembered and checks it when a question needs context. No paid tool, just the Notion connector. The catch: one agent's wrong inference becomes ground truth for the others, so add Written by and Status columns.
Property access (alpha): You can finally hide one column from one person. Hide costs and internal notes from clients, make a budget view-only, or show each project lead only their own project's budget. Business and Enterprise only. Build a separate view for each audience, because a view filtered by a hidden column won't open for them.
Why your Notion page loads slow: The usual tips work: put heavy databases in a closed toggle and set load limits to 10 or 25. But if your formulas crunch thousands of rows across relations and rollups, they won't save you. This creator's fix: replace formulas that scan every page with buttons that add a plain number once. Load time dropped from about 11 seconds to near instant. The trade-off: numbers can be edited by hand.
